Termite Control – tips to help reduce termite attack

Termites are known as silent exterminators as they can feed on the timbers of your home undetected.  A termite colony can cause serious structural damage without you realising.  We recommend annual termite inspections and in some cases we recommend more regular inspections.  Our termite inspections are extremely thorough and are carried out in accordance with the Australian Standards.  We provide an electronic report detailing findings and recommendations.  Our termite inspections are complemented, if required with a Termatrac T3i and/or a Thermal Imaging Camera.

Tips to help reduce conditions conducive to termite attack in and around your home;

  • ensure all downpipes and aircon overflows are directed into the nearest drains
  • fix any leaking water pipes
  • ensure all shower areas are sealed and adequately ventilated
  • ensure weep holes are exposed
  • remove any stumps and debris in the yard
  • ensure vegetation is approximately 500mm from the building edge
  • ensure there is no timber in direct ground or building contact – fences, posts, decking, retaining timbers
  • ensure any stored wood is stored away from the home and off the ground
  • carry our regular inspections to the foundations of your home for any mud tubes contact us if you find any and DO NOT break the mud tube)
